C4 Ever Green

About
In 2022, C 4Ever Green was created as a 501(c)3 at the encouragement of community members. The organization addresses waste-burning and illegal dumping, protecting endangered Indigenous plants harvested for food, ceremony, and livestock, transitioning to renewable energy, and protecting natural resources. In 2019, local community members, Norman Lameman and Meridith Benally noticed increased trash dumping alongside highways, residential roads, and intersections within the Utah Navajo Nation and bordering San Juan River region townships. The need for local action initiated the first local Earth Day Trash Pick-up event hosted by the two community members. The event involved seventy-five residents volunteering to clean along Utah HWY 191 to Little Water, crossing over to San Juan County Road 443, then south to San Juan County Road 442 and N36, all within the Utah Navajo reservation. This fostered awareness and education of waste management. This also signified the need for a local transfer station, recycling center, or landfill.
