About:

Tséyi’ Association was established and founded in 1976 by a Del Muerto Canyon Resident Late Mr. Kee Gai Begay.  Thereafter,  the founding fathers, Del Muerto Canyon Resident Late Mr. Anderson Teller, and Del Muerto Resident/Inlaw Late Mr. Ernest K. Tsosie.  A goal of the group was to become a non-profit organization, which was realized July 2025. To date, there are 160 individuals who have registered as a resident. There was a collective concern that the needs of the canyon residents were not being met.  These concerns included fencing, farming, soil erosion, water irrigation/water reserve, preservation/protection/ restoration of the canyon, road maintenance, and safety for the residents in terms of water, heat and locality.  Today, the needs remain nearly the same, with added concerns of grasshopper infestation, overgrowth trees not natural to Canyon de Chelly, accessibility to water, and control of animals such as deer, bears, bobcats, and feral horses and dogs.
